BUTWAL, May 21: Nepal has reported the third death due to COVID-19. A 41-year-old male patient from Madane Rural Municipality-6, Purkot, Gulmi died on Thursday morning at 7:10 am, according to Dr Umashankar Prasad Chaudhary, chief at the Hospital Development and Medical Services Division at the Ministry of Social Development of Province 5.
According to Dr Chaudhary, preparation for the final rites of the deceased is underway as per the health guidelines issued by the government.

His infection was confirmed earlier on Monday by a Bhairahawa-based provincial lab.
The man was admitted to the Manigram-based Crimson Hospital on May 14. His health had been deteriorating and was on a ventilator.
According to Romlal Sunar -- a health staff at Madame Rural Municipality -7, the patient had other health issues, including jaundice, so he went to Butwal for treatment via Arkghakhanchi. "He had symptoms of jaundice and even pneumonia. We heard that he was an asthma patient, but we have yet to confirm that, " Sunar said.
A teacher at a local school, he did not have recent travel history after the country went into the lockdown on March 24.
With this, Nepal has reported a total of three deaths due to COVID-19. Earlier, a 29-year-old woman from Sindhupalchowk and a 25-year-old youth from Narainapur-5, Banke had also died of this disease on May 16 and 17 respectively.
