Tension grips Gulmi Hospital following death of seven-year-old girl

GULMI, Aug 29: After the death of a 7-year-old girl who was admitted to the hospital with a stomach ache, tension has arisen in the Gulmi Hospital.  


After the death of the girl, the situation became tense when the relatives refused to receive the body saying that the girl had died due to the negligence of the hospital. The situation in the hospital is tense now and the deceased’s relatives are demonstrating.  


On Monday afternoon, Rajesh Marasini of Chhatradev Rural Municipality-7, Kaule, Arghakhanchi, admitted his 7-year-old daughter Prasamsha to Gulmi Hospital due to stomach ache. She was admitted after she vomited in the hospital during treatment.

According to Meghraj Pandey of Arghakhanchi-7, Bhagwati, her health was improving. The child was woken up while asleep and administered the medicine through a needle this morning. Then she fainted. Prasamsha fainted after the injection was administered and could not wake up again.  


After the girl fainted, the relatives of the patient asked to call the doctor, but the relatives alleged that the incident happened when the nurses did not call the doctor on time. After taking the child to the hospital with a normal stomach ache, they are raising slogans alleging that the child died shortly after the injection due to negligence, while the health condition was improving.


The patient's relatives have not picked up the body saying that the hospital was negligent. Khildhwaj Panthi, mayor of Resunga Municipality, said that after the discussion between the hospital administration and the deceased's relatives was not positive, the district administration office is ready to hold talks. He said that he would go to the district administration office and demand an inquiry into the death of the child.


The relatives of the deceased chanted slogans and ransacked the hospital premises, resulting in a clash. Now police have been deployed in large numbers around the hospital.
