KATHMANDU, Jan 13: The Nepal Police has formed a central election preparation and coordination committee under the leadership of Additional Inspector General of Police, Bishwaraj Pokharel.
According to Nepal Police Spokesperson Basant Bahadur Kunwar, the 37-member committee has been entrusted to chalk out security strategies required for midterm elections that have been scheduled for April 30 and May 10.
The committee has been asked to calculate a fund that is required for the Nepal Police in maintaining law and order during the elections, the police spokesperson said.
Based on the committee's report, the Nepal Police Headquarters will ask the Ministry of Home Affairs in writing to arrange the funds required for the purpose.

Meanwhile, the Nepal Police Headquarters has already started homework to prepare the police personnel mobilization strategy for the elections.
Earlier last week, the Ministry of Home Affairs had directed all the three security agencies—Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department—to chalk out election security strategies.
