KATHMANDU, Aug 16: Maoists have once again requested Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal not to sign any major treaty or agreement with India during his visit to the southern neighbor. The Maoists made a request to Nepal in this regard during an all-party meeting at Singha Durbar on Sunday afternoon.

“The Maoists have asked the prime minister not sign any controversial treaty that will have long term implications for Nepal,” said CPN-UML chief whip Bhim Acharya. He said the Maoists were particularly concerned about Pancheshwar multi-purpose project and requested the prime minister not to sign any deal on it.

In response, the prime minister assured the Maoists that he would only sign treaties that have already been agreed at the secretary level.
