KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Nepal recorded 8,454 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday along with 4,433 recoveries and five deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
As many as 20,359 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 5,571 PCR and 2,883 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 90, 366 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 88,248 are in self-isolation, 1,819 in institutional isolation, 251 in ICUs, and 48 on ventilators. Similarly, 171 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,672 people have died of viral infection across the country.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 2,900 cases of the virus on Wednesday. Of them, 2,041 were recorded in Kathmandu, 293 in Bhaktapur, and 566 in Lalitpur districts.
