Nepal elected member of AIIB Board of Directors

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Nepal has been elected to the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Board of Directors. The ongoing meeting of the Bank in Beijing of China nominated Nepal as the member of the Board today.

Nine countries from the Asia including China, the UAE, Indonesia, Russia and India, two non-Asian countries Britain and Germany have been nominated as members of the Board, according to a statement issued by the Secretariat of Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel.


Finance Ministers and representatives from 57 countries attending the Conference jointly inaugurated the Bank. Chinese President Xi Jinping unveiled the sculpture of the Bank during the opening ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Finance Minister Poudel said Nepal would actively participate in the Bank activities for attaining infrastructure, social and economic development in the entire Asia. RSS
