Nepal and China sign cooperation agreement for cultural exchange and language teaching

On this occasion, PM and Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University Oli expressed his gratitude over the expansion of academic and educational relations and cooperation between the two countries, stating that the ties between Nepal and China have existed for centuries, even at the people's level.

KATHMANDU, Dec 30: Lumbini Buddhist University and Beijing Language and Culture University of China have signed a cooperation agreement in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.


At a program held on Monday at the Prime Minister's Residence, Baluwatar, a memorandum of understanding was exchanged between Prof Subarna Lal Bajracharya, the vice chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University, and Duan Peng, the president of Beijing Language and Culture University.

According to the agreement, the universities of both countries will work for cultural exchange, language teaching, and research activities. Similarly, Nepal Institute in Beijing and China Institute in Lumbini will be established. During the official visit of PM Oli from December 2 to 5, an agreement was reached with China regarding voluntary Chinese language teaching.


On this occasion, PM and Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University Oli expressed his gratitude over the expansion of academic and educational relations and cooperation between the two countries, stating that the ties between Nepal and China have existed for centuries, even at the people's level.


The event was attended by Geeta Kumari Poudyal Adhikari, a member of the National Planning Commission (NPC), Dr Tilak Ram Acharya, registrar of Lumbini Buddhist University, and officials from the Chinese Embassy in Nepal.
