NDRRMA estimates loss of approximately Rs 400 billion in Bhotekoshi floods

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: The government has estimated the loss of some Rs 400 billion in the Bhotekoshi flash flood that struck Nepal on August 26.

In a regular briefing organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) on Thursday, Executive Director Dr Dharma Raj Upreti said NDRRMA made the preliminary estimate of Rs 387.54 billion in loss triggered by the August 26 disaster. However, a detailed report on it is awaited.


For the restoration of various sectors in the coming four months, the country may need Rs 8 billion, he shared the estimate. "It is essential to restore buildings, communications, energy and transport systems, health, nutrition, education, agriculture and livestock," Dr Uprety added.
