KATHMANDU, Dec 21: Prime minister and chairperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) KP Sharma Oli held a gathering of his party’s lawmakers of the dissolved House of Representatives who are close to him.
Oli addressed the meeting which was held at Baluwatar. During his address, Oli explained to the ex-lawmakers what led him to dissolve parliament and announce mid-term elections in a surprising manner.
NCP’s Oli faction claims it has support of party’s 115 lawmaker...
The meeting comes a day after President Bidya Devi Bhandari announced the dissolution of the House of Representatives and fresh dates for holding mid-term elections upon the recommendation of the Oli-led Cabinet.
Hours after PM Oli's decision to dissolve the HoR, a Standing Committee meeting of the ruling party decided to take disciplinary action against him.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, Commerce Minister Lekh Raj Bhatta and NCP leader Subas Nembang were among those who attended the meeting.
However, Ram Bahadur Thapa, home minister, did not take part in the meeting. He held a separate meeting with NCP leaders close to him at Pulchowk, his own official residence.
