KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Students and youths affiliated to the faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday afternoon organized a march-past at Putalisadak in Kathmandu on the eve of the mass gathering of the faction scheduled for Friday.
The march-past was organized as a preparation for Friday’s showdown in the capital at a time when the party’s rival faction led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal has been enforcing a nationwide general strike as a protest against the appointments made at different constitutional bodies on Wednesday.

The march-past was followed by an orientation to the volunteers to be mobilized for tomorrow’s program.
A large number of police personnel have been mobilized to avoid any possible clash between the two rival factions.
The faction also organized a motorcycle rally in Kathmandu on Wednesday as a precursor to Friday’s mass gatherings to be held in front of the Narayanhiti Museum, the former royal palace.
