BIRATNAGAR, Feb 20: A mass gathering organized by the Oli-led faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Saturday has begun in Biratnagar.
A large number of people are marching ahead from various major entry points in the metropolitan city to the program venue. Those participating in the rally have been chanting slogans in support of Prime Minister Oli.

The faction has claimed to bring as many as 200,000 people in the regional rally, which is being organized at an open space near Birat Nursing Home. Prime Minister Oli, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, former House Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang and Province 1 Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai, among others, are scheduled to address the gathering.
NCP’s leaders and cadres supporting the Oli faction have arrived in Biratnagar from all districts of Province 1.
However, the Dahal-Nepal faction of the NCP had staged a demonstration against Prime Minister Oli in Biratnagar. A group of students belonging to the rival faction within the NCP staged the demonstration against Prime Minister Oli at airport mode in Kanchanbari as he was being escorted to the program venue after landing at Biratnagar Airport.
Police had immediately dispersed the protesting students.
