RUKUM, May 13: Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula said Congress will not ‘commit suicide’ by extending the Constituent Assembly deadline.

The Jhala Nath Khanal-led government should form the basis of national consensus and guarantee a new constitution as well as prepare the draft of a constitution at any cost, he said speaking at a press meet in Khanalga Friday. [break]

Since the trend of changing government has been set like a culture in Nepal now focus should be not on the government, but on peace and constitution, he said. To conclude peace and constitution, not only the UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML but consensus among all other parties is needed, he said.

In the present circumstances, Congress will not agree to extend CA’s term, he said. Sitaula is here to address a mass gathering organised by his party.
