BIRATNAGAR, July 3: Nepali Congress has clinched victory in Letang and Ratuwamai municipalities. Sahankar Rai has been elected as the mayor of Letang Municipality. Rai got 6, 961 votes.
His closest rival of CPN-UML Bhupendra Lawati got 6, 656 votes. To the deputy mayor, UML candidate Krishna Kumari Niraula has been elected with 6, 909 votes. Her closest rival of Nepali Congress Subhadra Bhattarai got 5,740 votes.
CPN-UML bites dust in its own strongholds
Similarly, Rabin Rai has been elected as the mayor of Ratuwamai Municipality. Rai got 9,895 votes. Her closest rival of CPN-UML Tekendra Pomu got 8,100 votes.
Similarly, to the post of deputy mayor, UML candidate Dayamanta Chudal has been elected with 8, 372 votes. Her closest rival of Nepali Congress Phulwati Godi got 8,313 votes.
