Deuba asks party cadres and others not to exert undue pressure from the streets to the court on sub judice case
KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Expressing dissatisfaction over the attempts from various quarters to exert undue pressure on the apex court to pass favorable verdict on the case related to dissolution of the parliament, the main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said it is not good to exert such pressure from the streets to secure favorable decision on any sub judice case.

Addressing a rally organized by the party in Budhanilkantha area in the capital on Saturday, President Deuba argued that although the move of Prime Minister K P Oli to dissolve the lower house of the federal parliament is not constitutional it is not good to dictate the court by taking to the streets, exerting undue pressure.
"Since this [dissolution of parliament] is a sub judice case, we cannot dictate court to do this or that. We need to wait until the court delivers its verdict. Nepali Congress will accept the court's verdict," said Deuba.
"If the court seconded the Oli's move, Nepali Congress will go to the election. Other parties will also go to the election. People are an even bigger court than the Supreme Court. What is wrong in going to people [for election] ?” he asked.
President Deuba, however, cast doubt about Prime Minister Oli conducting the election anytime soon.
Stating that Prime Minister Oli promised again to hold the elections within the stipulated dates during a mass gathering in Dhangadhi on Friday, Deuba claimed that Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) would also decide to take part in the election. Arguing that Oli himself has already started holding the election campaign, Deuba also expressed confidence that the elections would be held in the country sooner than later.
