KATHMANDU, Sept 2: The Nepali Congress (NC) hasn’t been able to hold its ward-level convention in some districts, including the federal capital Kathmandu at a time when only one day is to go for its pre-scheduled ward convention.

The list of active members has not been disclosed in some districts, including Kathmandu as of now. The uncertainty of convention is looming large because of no disclosure of active member base. It is also because the Election Committee has not made public any statement whether or not to hold elections in the districts that have not disclosed the active membership base.

The Election Committee Coordinator Mahadev Yadav said the party’s central office has so far provided the details of active members of 56 districts to the committee and the committee disclosed them accordingly.

Details of the member base of 21 districts have not been made available to the committee yet, he added. Among the 21 districts are capital Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, 8 districts of province-2 and Dolpa.

Election officers have been deputed in all 56 districts as part of the preparation to conduct ward election from September 3, Yadav said. He further shared that the committee is prepared to depute election officers in the districts within two hours of the party providing the details of active members of the remaining districts.
