During the Central Working Committee meeting held on Friday, President Koirala complained that CWC members did not support him in taking decisions. [break]
“The party can not run if the problem persists. You have been obstructing all the proposals forwarded by the party president,” a CWC member quoted Koirala as saying.
Koirala urged for support from all CWC members saying it would not be in the interest of the party to handicap the party president. As an overwhelming majority of CWC members stood against his proposal to dissolve the current NSU body, Koirala said he did not propose the dissolution.
Koirala´s proposal to dissolve NSU body has been facing strong opposition from leaders close to Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Altogether 10 CWC members had taken part in the deliberation on the proposal to dissolve NSU body during the CWC meeting on Friday. The meeting was cut short as lawmakers from the party had to attend the House meeting. The meeting will continue on Saturday.
Ishwori Neupane, Dina Upadhyaya, Sita Gurung, Kabita Sardar, Minaxi Jha, Pushpa Bhusal, Ajaya Chaurasiya and Arjun Joshi, among others, had attended the meeting. A majority of them had spoken against dissolution of the current NSU body and suggested instead to hold general convention to elect a new leadership.
