NC leader Pahadi passes away

KATHMANDU, August 19:  Ailing Nepali Congress (NC) leader and Central Working Committee (CWC) member Gopal Raj Pahadi passed away on Monday morning.



Pahadi, who had been afflicted from multiple health problems including diabetes, heart attack and kidney failure, breathed his last at Kathmandu Medical College Hospital, Sinamangal at around 7 am this morning while undergoing treatment. He was 68. [break]



Born in Sankhuwasabha, he was involved in the Nepali Congress´ activities since five decades. He had served as District Party President of Shankhuwasabha from 2036 to 2052 BS.



According to NC, Pahadi’s body will be kept at NC Central Party Office, Sanepa from 10 am to 1 pm for paying last tribute to him. His last rites are scheduled to be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat later in the afternoon today.



Pahadi was undergoing treatment at KMC hospital since second week of July after he returned home from India. Earlier, he was taken to Delhi, India for the treatment of kidney problem.





Meanwhile, a CWC meeting of the party has been called at 9: 30 am following the demise of leader Pahadi. The meeting is expected to decide to lower the party flag half-mast and not to hold any formal events for three days following Pahadi´s death.
