KATHMANDU, April 3: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has raised concerns over the fact that no inquiry committee has been formed to probe Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s involvement in a cooperative fraud case.

Speaking during today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, NC leader Sharma insisted on a parliamentary inquiry against the Home Minister concerning the cooperative case.

Sharma also dismissed reports that the NC had offered the post of Prime Minister to Rabi Lamichhane before the formation of the new alliance.

“There’s no ambiguity. The post of Prime Minister was never offered to him (Lamichhane),” Sharma said.

“We must dispel the illusion that anyone has been offered the Prime Minister’s post without proper decision-making,” Sharma said.

“In the cooperative fraud case, we are simply demanding a parliamentary inquiry committee,”  he said.

“Our ultimatum regarding the formation of the parliamentary committee expires today,” he declared.

He said that the government must ensure that a parliamentary inquiry panel must be established before the next meeting.
