KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Nepali Congress has passed the 'Province Assembly Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Statute-2074 BS'.
An emergency meeting of the central working committee of the party held at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar today endorsed the statute with some amendment, said Party Chief Secretary, Krishna Prasad Poudel.
According to the NC, the statute was passed immediately as the statute was necessary to form Parliamentary Party working Committee in the provinces after election of provincial assembly was held for the first time in the country as per the constitution.
Top leaders as well as Central Committee members of the party were present in the meeting chaired by Prime Minister and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
In lack of a clear ordinance, the country’s oldest party hasn’t been able to nominate its provincial parliamentary members.
The new statute builds upon previous parliamentary party’s ordinances. Now, Nepali Congress initiate nominations of provincial parliamentarians.
