KATHMANDU, Nov 26: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has handed over a letter of memorandum to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba demanding the government to take initiative to resolve the problems seen in the judiciary.
In a meeting with PM Deuba at his official residence in Baluwatar, NBA Chairman Chandeshwor Shrestha urged PM Deuba to take initiative to solve the issues. He said that the political parties should play their role in parliament in order to ensure the independence of the judiciary.
NBA to stage protest at Judicial Council today
On the occasion, PM Deuba mentioned that he has taken the issue put forth by the NBA very seriously, according to Chairman Shrestha. PM Deuba said that a discussion will be held with the top leaders of coalition parties on the issues of judiciary. Deuba has also said that they will forge common views on the issue of the judiciary and the protest launched by the lawyers in a day or two.
Central members of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA), officials of Supreme Court Bar Association, and former chairmen and secretaries of NBA, among others, were present during the meeting with Prime Minister Deuba.
