KATHMANDU, July 12: Coordinator of the Naya Shakti Party, Nepal, Dr Baburam Bhattarai today met Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and urged to construct the Budhigandaki Hydropower Project with domestic investment.
While submitting a memorandum related to Budhigandaki Hydropower Project to the Prime Minister at his office at Singha Durbar, Coordinator Bhattarai also demanded to scrap the decision made by the previous government on May 24, 2017 to hand over the project to a Chinese company.
The memo demands scraping the agreement signed between Energy Ministry and Gezhouba Group Company of China for the construction of Budhigandaki Hydropower Project, transforming the Budhigandaki Hydropower Project into multipurpose water Resources Development Project and give priority to resettlement of the project-affected families among others.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, also former Prime Minister, Dr Bhattarai, said that PM Deuba has taken his demands seriously. Bhattarai however warned of going for street agitation if the demands were not addressed. RSS
