KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The National Assembly endorsed the Prison Bill, 2079 BS. The session unanimously passed the Bill received from the House of Representatives with a message and presented by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand before it for an approval.
During deliberations on it, Bimala Rai Poudel and Bhuwan Bahadur Sunar drew the government's attention towards the construction of infrastructure and proper management of human resources to see improvement in prison management.
Responding to queries raised during the deliberations, the Minister said the Bill is capable of ensuring the enhancement of prison's physical situation and its well management.

The Bill aims to develop the prison as a correction home as well as make inmates and detainees engage in productive work, making them realize their responsibility towards the society.
He pledged to incorporate the suggestions that prison should serve as the correction centers and the State should be serious about the health and security of inmates and detainees, according to him, investment in prison management will be scaled up from the next year.
The meeting also unanimously accepted the proposal to seek re-endorsement of the Urban Area Public Transport Management Authority Bill, 2076 BS with the amendments from the House of Representatives.
The proposal was presented by Minister for Physical Infrastructure Transport, Mohammad Ishtiyaq Rayi.
The meeting also unanimously endorsed the proposal to send the Animal Health and Livestock Services Council, Bill, 2079 BS received from the lower house to the Legislation Committee for clause-wise deliberations. Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav tabled the proposal.
