KATHMANDU, July 11: In today's meeting of the National Assembly, nine proposals for cost reduction have been presented.
Member of Parliament (MP) Dilkumari Thapa Rawal Parbati, while presenting a proposal to cut the expenditures of the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the budget allocated for health has been decreasing every year. She said that she had to present a proposal to reduce expenses because the budget has been decreasing.
Similarly, lawmaker Ram Chandra Rai presented the proposal to reduce the expenditure of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and said that the government failed to guarantee the people’s right to information.

MP Bhairab Sundar Shrestha, while presenting the proposal to reduce the expenditure of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, said that handing over all hydropower projects to foreign countries is objectionable.
MP Bimala Ghimire proposed that the expenses of the Ministry of Water Resources be reduced and maintained at Re 1. She said that she was surprised to hear the secretary's statement that if muddy water comes from the Melamchi water supply project, the water cannot be purified.
On behalf of MP Deepa Gurung, Tulsa Kumari Dahal proposed to cut the expenditure of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security. She said that no policy and program to implement concessional loans was seen in the budget.
MP Indu Kadaria presented a proposal to reduce the expenditure of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. MP Bhagwati Neupane presented a proposal to reduce the expenditure of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. She mentioned that the government and the Ministry of Law are indifferent to the fact that only those who have access can get justice.
MP Kumar Dasaudi presented a proposal to reduce the expenditure of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and maintain it at Re 1.
MP Bimala Rai Paudyal presented a proposal to reduce the expenditure of the budget allocated for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She said that since the Foreign Embassies do not even answer the phone during office hours, why a budget is needed for the diplomatic mission, she proposed to cut the expenses. MP Paudyal said that even though the country has adopted federalism, it has not been followed in the budget.
