KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Journalist Santosh Pokharel of Republica has been honored by Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NAATA) for his contribution to the promotion and development of the tourism sector of Nepal through journalism.
NAATA honored Pokharel with a media award on Friday on the occasion of NAATA’s golden jubilee. During an event held to mark the anniversary, tourism minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi handed Pokharel the award, which also carries Rs 25,000.

Along with Pokharel, NAATA felicitated Rameshwor Karki of Arthatantra.com, Nabin Kafle of Artha Ra Byapar and Sharada Thapa of ABC Television. Pokharel has been writing about the tourism sector since the establishment of Republica.
Speaking at the event, minister Shahi said the media had played a vital role in promoting the tourism sector. NAATA has been annually honoring
journalists who contribute to the tourism sector through journalism.
