Meanwhile, NAAA will conduct a technical course on December 1 and 2 to produce technical manpower like time-keeper and judges.
“We have players and coaches but not technical manpower. We have been using coaches for the technical duties and we want to end this tradition,” said NAAA President Nilendra Raj Shrestha.
Likewise, NAAA announced an Open Masters Athletics Championship in association with Dr Khagendra Sports Federation on December 17.
NAAA has also included a school-level athletics orientation course and college-level athletics championship in its calendar. All the four five programs will be conducted in Kathmandu while National Cross-country Championship will take place in Pokhara on June 3, 2012.
“These are program at the central level and all our district associations will focus them on running at least one program within the current fiscal year,” said Shrestha.
The general assembly of the NAAA had unanimously elected an 18-member working committee under the presidency of Shrestha on September 12. The NAAA has not yet been recognized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the supreme athletics body of the world, as NSC had dissolved the previous committee led by General Secretary Rabiraj Rajkarnikar on July 29.
“We have informed IAAF about the situation we have here and it has informed that a representative of IAAF president will visit Nepal to take stock of the conflict,” said Shrestha.
Meanwhile, NSC Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama launched a book ´Nepal Athletics Statistics´, written by NAAA Vice President Diwakar Lal Amatya during the program organized to unveil the NAAA calendar. The book includes national records, all time best records of Nepali athletes and South Asian, Asian, Olympic and athletics world records.
During the program, Lama handed over spikes (shoes) to athletes Pramila Rijal, Hari Kumar Rimal, Keshari Chaudhary and Sabita Chaudhary sponsored by Ashaya Rajbhandari, who is currently residing in America.
