Motorcyclist, pedestrian killed in separate road mishaps

DAMAK, July 26: A motorcyclist died in a road accident at Damak-5 in Jhapa district Thursday night.



The deceased has been identified as Tirtha Poudel, 23, of Maheshpur-9 in the district, said police.[break]



The accident took place when the motorcycle collided with an electric pole at Dhukurpani of Damak. A pillion rider Manoj Regmi of Bhadrapur-5 was also injured in the same accident.



According to the Area Police Office, Damak, Poudel died while undergoing treatment at Amda Hospital. Regmi is undergoing treatment at Birtanagar-based Neuro Hospital. RSS

Meanwhile, a pedestrian was killed after being knocked down by a passenger bus at Ayodhyanagar in the district along the east-West Highway this morning.



The identity of the deceased of around 40 years is yet to be known, said Inspector Naresh Raj Subedi of the area Police Office, Mirchaiya.



The bus (Lu 1 Kha 6661) heading towards Dharan from Kathmandu knocked the man down and he died on the spot, said police.



The dead body has been taken to Lahan Hospital for post-mortem.



The bus has been impounded while the bus driver Chandra Shrestha taken into police custody for necessary action.
