Party spokesperson Pradip Gyawali said as many as 40 CC members put forth their view in today´s meeting, with most of them maintaining that the party should not accept the UCPN (Maiost)-floated proposal as formation of a CJ-led government will be against the principle of separation of powers and other basic norms of democracy. He said that the meeting will resume on Saturday. He also informed that UML top leaders will now once again put for their view at the major parties´ meeting stressing on the formation of election government under the leadership of any of the political parties.
With the UML´s stance internally fractured, the prospect of the major parties´ meeting this evening at Shital Niwas being able to forge consensus on the formation of election government looks unlikely.
