JANAKPUR, May 25: Cadres of Madhesi Mukti Tiger (MMT) torched a truck (Na 1 Kha 17) near Pushpalpur in Dhanusha district along the East-West Mahendra Highway for defying their banda on Monday. The truck was heading to the east from Kathmandu.

MMT has called for a three-day strike in Dhanusha demanding the release of their cadre Arun Kumar Mahato. Police had arrested Mahato, MMT’s military commander, a week ago on charge of involvement in criminal activities.

The banda has partly affected Janakpur bazaar and the number of short and long distance vehicles plying in the district is also few.

According to Dhirendra Karna of District Education Office, their office work has also been affected as many staff were afraid to use motorcycles during the strike.
