KATHMANDU, July 8: The government ministers have started responding to the queries coming from the lawmakers over the allocation of budget and planning for 13 separate ministries under the Appropriation Bill 2073 at the Parliament.
The response from ministers for Industry, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Youth and Sports, Peace and Reconstruction, Home, Forest and Soil Conservation, Energy, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Women, Children and Social Welfare, Defense, Foreign, Federal Affairs and Local Development and Physical Infrastructure and Transport is currently in progress.
Peace and Reconstruction Minister's comments
Peace and Reconstruction Minister, Ek Nath Dhakal, said works pertaining to relief, support, rehabilitation and reconstruction of the conflict-victims, quake-stricken areas, injured and displaced were continuing in course of shouldering a historic onus.
EC says 1,025 inquiries from call centers addressed
The Minister spoke of lack of necessary budget as hampering the expedition of work on reconstruction in a way that earlier expectations were going unfulfilled. He added that VDC buildings and police stations were prioritized when reconstructing the physical structures damaged during the conflict.
Minister Dhakal said the Ministry while running around 4,000 programmes related to peace was short of Rs 640 million. As the execution of task in local peace committees is being undertaken with participation of all the political parties, the Minister shared that it convinced him it would be fair.
During the inquisition, it was informed that one-third of the reconstruction work had completed. Earlier, lawmaker duo Anuradha Thapa Magar and Amar Singh Pun sought clarification with the Minister. RSS
