The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Embassy of India in Kathmandu in association with Mandala Theatre-Nepal has launched a five-day Mime Theatre Workshop followed by ‘MIME PLAY: Umbrella of Niru Gonsai’ as a prelude to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of India’s Independence.
Theaters back into operation
Nepali actor Bijay Baral and Indian Mime Artist Nirajan Goswami have been teaching mime and acting at the workshop being held at Mandala Theatre Nepal, Anamnagar from Thursday to Monday. According to the press statement released by the ICC, the cultural event is being organized under the aegis of the Indian Cultural Centre, Kathmandu in collaboration with Mandala Theatre-Nepal and Kathmandu University.
On Sunday, public performances were held at Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel. Similar performances will be held on Monday at Nepal Army Auditorium at 5 pm. The play ‘MIME PLAY: Umbrella of Niru Gonsai’ is directed by Niranjan, and is being performed by 12-member Indian Mime Theatre Group sponsored by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi, as per the press statement.
