KATHMANDU, July 13: Mid-western University and Far-western University registered victories in the volleyball event of the 2nd Prime Minister Cup University Sports Meet on Thursday.
In the league round matches played at Dasharath stadium's covered hall, Tripureshwar, Mid-western defeated Mahendra Sanskrit University 25-11, 25-11 while it saw off Kathmandu University 21-15, 25-17 in other match of the day.
Likewise, Far-western saw off Purbanchal University and Agriculture and Forestry University with the score lines of 25-19, 25-10 and 25-17, 25-14 respectively.

In the remaining matches of the day, Kathmandu University registered 25-14, 18-25, 25-21 win over Pokhara University while Tribhuvan University beat Agriculture and Forestry University 25-11, 25-17.
Nisha, Divya into final
The pair of Nisha Shrestha and Divya Shrestha of Agriculture and Forestry University has advanced to the women's doubles final of table tennis event on Thursday.
In the semifinal match played at National Table Tennis Training Center, Lainchaur, the pair of Nisha and Divya defeated the pair of Ritika Shrestha and Ishwari Gurung 11-6, 7-11, 11-8.
Likewise in another last four match, Kathmandu University's pair of Dipika Shrestha and Ishika Regmi saw off Tribhuvan University's pair of Sunita Ligal and Anusha Shakya 11-7, 11-8.
Meanwhile in the men's singles of table tennis, Kathmandu University's Karan Rai, Mid-western University's Roshan Chaulagain, Tribhuvan University's Bhavuk Joshi and Pokhara University's Bivek Kawan reached to the super league.
Similarly, in the women's singles event, Kathmandu University's Ishika Regmi, Agriculture and Forestry University's Divya Shrestha and Nisha Shrestha alongside Kathmandu University's Dipika Shrestha booked their places in the super league. The players who reached the super league will now face each other in round robin format and the player with highest points will be declared the champion.
