KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Standing Committee member of the Nepal Communist Party Yogesh Bhattarai has asserted that the Medical Education Bill will be endorsed by the parliament on Friday.

Speaking at an interaction organized by Reporters Club Nepal in the capital on Wednesday, leader Bhattarai said the Medical Education Bill will be tabled in the parliament for endorsement. Even if the opposition lawmakers barred the minister from reaching the rostrum, the bill will be endorsed from the minister’s seat itself.

“Bhattarai recalled that a precedent had been set to table the bill from the minister’s seat itself during Ramchandra Paudel’s tenure as the speaker of the parliament. It could be a solution to the problem,” clarified Bhattrai.

Meanwhile, he assured that the federal government will take full responsibility of running the hospitals named after GP Koirala and Sushil Koirala.

The Medical Education Bill could not be tabled in the parliament after the main opposition Nepali Congress lawmakers created obstructions while Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel was heading to the rostrum to table the Bill on Tuesday.

NC lawmakers protested the bill saying that it has not incorporated the demands of agitating Dr Govinda KC as well as the issues related to the hospitals named after GP Koirala and Sushil Koirala.
