Medical college officer nabbed with brown sugar

NEPALGUNJ, Sept 18: Bheri Zonal Police Office has arrested the administrative officer of the Nepalgunj Medical College, Arbind Kumar Sharma with 50 grams brown Sugar on Wednesday.



At a press meet, the local police made public his alleged involvement in smuggling of contraband drugs. The town is considered as one of the ‘transit points’ for contraband drugs. The local police officials have said that this is the first time the contraband drugs has been seized from a professional of the local health firm. [break]



According to chief of the Bheri Zonal Police Office, SSP Madhusudan Pudasaini, Sharma was a smuggler and user of contraband drugs for a long time. On condition of anonymity, a local police officer told Republica that Sharma used to deliver contraband drugs to the doctors at the medical college imported from India via open and porous border.



Meanwhile, Sharma has refused the charge insisting that it is a ploy against him. “I am neither smuggler nor user of contraband drugs,” he claimed. Sharma, 44, was taken into custody on Wednesday itself.
