KATHMANDU, Oct 13: Mayanka Rana and Prerana Koirala will vie in the final clash of the ongoing second Lalitpur District National Open Lawn Tennis Tournament.
In the semifinals of women’s singles matches, played Thursday at the Tennis Complex, Satdobato, Lalitpur, Mayanka defeated Ganga Sharma 6-3, 7-5 while Prerana beat Mahika Rana 6-0, 6-1.

Likewise, in the semifinals of women’s doubles, Mayanka and Mahika secured their final berth by registering a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Bijisha Shrestha and Bhagawati BK. The Rana siblings will face Abhilasha Bista and Ganga Sharma in the final, who dismissed Saloni Tamang and Prerana 7-6, 6-1.
In men’s singles, Kamal Bahadur Bhandari, Pranab Khanal, Pradeep Khadka, and Santosh Khatri booked their places in the semifinals. Kamal overcame Shreeram Magar 6-1, 6-4; Pranab overwhelmed Gaurab Jung Shahi 6-1, 6-2; Pradeep got past Subrat Basnet 6-2, 6-4 and Santosh thumped Mahesh Shrestha 6-3, 6-3.
Likewise, in men’s doubles quarterfinals, Kamal Bahadur Bhandari and Mahesh defeated Chhewang Lama and Bijay Shrestha 6-3, 6-1 while Shreeram Magar and Pranab Khanal made their way into the semifinals by the walkover rule.
In other quarterfinals matches of the same category, Santosh Khatri and Aatmaram Karki saw off Pradeep Khadka and Raj Kumar Lama 7-6, 6-4 while Jeevan Ghimire and Man Bahadur Katuwal overcame Sakshyam Bikram Shah and Rajbir Pradhan 6-0, 6-1 securing their place in the semifinals.
