Home Minister sees the need of 'sting operation' against corrupts

Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has insisted on launching a sting operation against the corrupt people. Addressing the first national gathering of Nepal Federation of Photo Journalists (NFPJ) at Sauraha of Chitwan on Thursday, the Home Minister urged the journalists to go against the corrupt and middlemen as they were impeding the development and prosperity of the country. 

33.5-kg gold scam: Accused SSP Khatri appears in court

Senior Superintendent of Police Shyam Khatri, a suspect in the 33.5 kilograms gold scam, who had been on the run, presented himself to Morang district court today. The District Police Office has registered a case with the court against 63 suspects including Khatri in the scam.

World No Tobacco Day 2018 being marked today

May 31 is celebrated as World No Tobacco Day. According to WHO, World No Tobacco Day 2018 will focus on the impact tobacco has on the cardiovascular health of people worldwide. Tobacco use is an important risk factor for the development of coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease.

Discussion on budget commences in National Assembly

Parliamentarians of ruling parties have said that the budget for fiscal year 2018/19 brought by the government was excellent while lawmakers from the opposition party, Nepali Congress, indicated the budget was not implementation-oriented. In today's meeting of the National Assembly, Finance Minister Dr Yubraj Khatiwada, presented a proposal for discussion on the budget.

Lawmaker of Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party (NWPP) Prem Suwal has smelt a rat on the high-profile 33.5 kg gold scam. Speaking at the Federal Parliament today, Suwal inquired whether Prime Minster himself has a hand behind the gold smuggling saying that only those with low profile and less powerful people have been netted in connection with the gold scam so far.
