NEPALGUNJ, April 13: Property worth Rs 50 million was gutted in a fire that broke out at Om Ply and Furniture Industry in Nepalgunj-13 on Friday.
Reportedly, the fire broke out at around 4 am. Superintendent of Police Arun Paudel, chief of the District Police Office (DPO), Banke, informed Republica that property worth more than Rs 50 million has been gutted in the fire.

"As per the information provided by the owner, property of approximately Rs 50 million has been damaged by the fire," said SP Paudel, adding," However, we are yet to ascertain it."
Nepal Police, Armed Police and the fire engines of Nepalgunj Metropolitan City and Kohalpur Municipality doused the fire at around 7 pm with the help of locals. Though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, workers suspect that the fire might have broken out from a machine.
A team led by Inspector Bharat Singh Rathor is investigating the case. "We learnt that the machine was closed at around 9 pm but the fire erupted at around 4 am in the morning," said Inspector Rathor. Pashupati Dayal Mishra, the owner of the industry says the loss can be more than what has been speculated.
Timely intervention of police and the locals helped minimize further damage. With the beginning of summer, cases of fire have increased in the district.
