‘Maoist with People: A Campaign for Special Transformation’ kicks off from today

KATHMANDU, Sept 2: The CPN (Maoist Center) has launched ‘Maoist with People: A Campaign for Special Transformation’ across the country from today. 

The campaign has been launched with the aim of connecting the party with the people, according to the party leaders. Party Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal inaugurated the campaign from the party headquarters Paris Danda at  9 AM today.

The Maoist Center, one of the leading forces in the country, which is leading the political change and transformative plan in the country, aims to 'win the hearts and votes' of the people in the upcoming elections through this campaign. The Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Central Committee of the Maoist Center held in the capital in August decided to conduct a campaign with the aim of conveying the message of the party and the government to each and every household.

Secretary of the Maoist Party Office, Dor Prasad Upadhyay, stated that under the campaign, the government led by Party Chairman Dahal will publicize the people's work including corruption control, promotion of good governance, improvement in service delivery, identification of problems and contradictions within the party, and effective solutions to grievances such as Maoist leaders and activists not reaching the people. "During the campaign, the Maoists will go to the houses of the people. The campaign will be conducted with the aim of influencing the results of the upcoming 2084 BS elections," he said.

With the inauguration of the campaign by party Chairman Dahal, the Maoist Center said that preparations are being made to conduct the campaign simultaneously in 6,743 wards across the country. Under the campaign, at least 2.5 million voters will be met directly to inform them about the work done by the government in the field of good governance, prosperity and social justice.

During the campaign, through renewal and expansion, the number of party membership will be increased to 8,00,000, the Maoists said that the meeting of all the committees of the party and Sister Organizations Front will be completed and an automatic committee will be prepared.

During the campaign period, the Maoists have divided the work areas such that central officials are assigned to inter-provincial positions, standing committee members and central members are assigned to inter-districts and provincial members are assigned to inter-municipalities. They have been sent to work areas even in temporary residences. The Maoists have appointed 22 central officials, including the chairman, to lead the three-month campaign.

According to Maoists, Prime Minister and Party Chairman Dahal will lead the campaign in Chandragiri-2 Ghattedanda Park of Kathmandu, Senior Vice Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha in Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality-18 Harisidhi, Vice Chairman Krishna Bahadur Mahara in Rolpa's Sunchhahari Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok's Lisankhu Pakhar Rural Municipality and Pampha Bhusal will lead the campaign in Lalitpur Mahamanagarpalika-22.

General Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung will oversee Sundarbazar Municipality-8 Bhotewodar of Lamjung, Deputy Secretary General Giriraj Mani Pokharel will handle Gokarneswar Municipality of Kathmandu, Barshaman Pun will be in Gongbu of Kathmandu, Haribol Gajurel will manage Kamalamai Municipality of Sindhuli, Janardan Sharma will lead the campaign in Chandragiri Municipality of Kathmandu, Matrika Prasad Yadav will head to Birendranagar Municipality of Surkhet, Secretary Dina Nath Sharma will oversee Baglung Municipality of Baglung, and Chakrapani Khanal will manage Morang's Biratnagar Metropolitan City.

Additionally, Secretary Devendra Paudel will oversee Kaski's Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality, Lilamani Pokhrel will handle Mahottari's Bardiwas Municipality, Ganesh Sah will be in Kathmandu's Baneshwar, Hitman Samik will oversee Rukumpurva's Sisne Rural Municipality, Hitraj Pandey will handle Gorkha's Palungtar Municipality, Dilaram Acharya will manage Kailali's Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan Municipality, Surendra Kumar Karki will oversee Jhapa's Buddhashanti Rural Municipality, and Treasurer Shriram Dhakal will participate in the campaign in Chandragiri Municipality.

For the campaign, a municipal level team has been formed under the leadership of party central members, commission members, advisory members, party state committee members, district coordination committee members, municipal officials, central and provincial department members, central members and provincial committee officials. The campaign team will conduct the program up to the municipality, ward and tole (locality) levels.

The campaign will be conducted in three phases. In the first phase, a fund will be established for meetings, gatherings, training, membership renewal and expansion, records management, production and propaganda-related mechanisms and plans, party office management at various levels, identification and resolution of conflicts within the party, and worker management.

In the second phase, five hours of inter-party schools, thematic interaction, thematic training, seminars, public training, public meetings, village-to-town youth gatherings, interaction with local government and social organizations will be held. In the third phase, public demonstration, public struggle, and public service programs will be conducted. Spokesperson Mahara said that public support and solidarity and tole assembly will be held in the campaign of good governance, prosperity and social justice.

In order to make the campaign successful, the Maoists have adopted a policy that all government officials and other responsible officials, including the party president Dahal, who is also the prime minister, should take responsibility for at least one ward. Chairman Dahal has already expressed his commitment to participate in the campaign of seven wards one by one in each of the seven provinces. The campaign will continue till October/November.
