NEPALGUNJ, Sept 15: President of Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala has said that the Maoist party should abjure the arms completely to take other political parties and general people into confidence.

Talking to RSS at his residence in Nepalgunj on Thursday, Koirala said the Maoist party’s step to hand over the keys of the cantonments to the army integration special committee was positive but basis to trust the Maoist party completely has not been created due to intraparty conflict in the former rebel party. Koirala however stressed for consensus among the parties to conclude the peace process and draft new constitution adding that monopoly of a party in the name of consensus was not acceptable.

Koirala said the Maoist party should dissolve paramilitary structure of the YCL, return seized properties to the owners, handover arms to the government, dissolve the people’s volunteers’ squad and revolutionary council, and added, the Maoist party cannot be trusted if these conditions were not met.
