KATHMANDU, May 4: The newly appointed Chief Minister (CM) of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, is taking the vote of confidence today. Spokesman for the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, Prem Subedi, said that there is an agenda for him to take the vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly meeting that will be held at 2PM.

On the recommendation of the provincial Council of Ministers, the Province Chief Prithviman Gurung called the provincial assembly session last Monday. Pandey, the leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) Gandaki Provincial Parliamentary Party, was appointed as the Chief Minister on May 27. He became the fourth chief minister of Gandaki Province with the support of 35 provincial assembly members including 27 of NC, seven of CPN (Maoist Center) and one of CPN (Unified Socialist) in 60-member provincial assembly.
Chief Minister Pandey is preparing to complete the Cabinet, which currently has only two ministers without portfolio including the Chief Minister, after taking the vote of confidence. The day after the appointment, along with Chief Minister Pandey, Provincial Assembly member Sushila Simkhada of the Maoist Center and Saraswati Aryal Tiwari of the NC took the oath of office and secrecy as ministers without portfolio.
