Maoist Center leader Gagan Puri resigns as CIAA files case against him

BIRATNAGAR, Feb 27: Gagan Puri, Treasurer of CPN (Maoist Center) of Koshi Province, has resigned from his position.


Puri resigned from the party’s position after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) implicated him in the Baluwatar land case in Jhapa.

A case was filed against Survey Department and Land Revenue Office employees, landowners and middlemen in the case of registering public land located at Ratuwa and the northern side of Dipini Khola of Dobhan in Ward No. 13 and 14 of Damak Municipality of Jhapa in the name of individuals.


A case was filed against the employees of the Survey Department and the Land Revenue Office, as well as landowners and intermediaries, regarding the encroachment of public land.


Earlier, on February 11, Puri was also convicted in a money laundering case by the Special Court.
