GAJURI, July 18: Locals arrested a person and handed him over to the police for trading ‘fake’ Indian currency notes in Malekhu of Dhading. The accused used to suspiciously exchange India currency notes of Rs 1,000 denominations after taking breakfast or lunch in the local hotels.

The arrested has been identified as Bibek Bista of Taredanda in Pyuthan. He was arrested on Wednesday night. Police seized original Indian currency notes of Rs 10 and 20 denominations from him.

Locals suspected his behavior after he tried to exchange the Rs 1,000 notes by buying one or the other goods from many shops, and arrested him. Police have collected 10 suspicious currency notes that Bista had paid to the shops. Bista said he was not aware that the notes were fake. He said one of his relatives had provided the notes to him. Police said further investigation into the case is on.
