Man arrested on charges of trafficking woman to China

KATHMANDU, Dec 30: Police have arrested a person on the charge of trafficking a 50-year-old woman to China.

KATHMANDU, Dec 30: Police have arrested a person on the charge of trafficking a 50-year-old woman to China.


Acting on a special tip-off, a team of police from the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau arrested Kiran Tamang, 32, of Kavrepalanchowk, from Lalitpur district.

According to police, the alleged trafficker took the woman to China alluring business and a job in China in December 2019. The alleged trafficker illegally took the woman to the Shandong Province of China through the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.


The victim was sold to a Chinese national named Tampu Thong, according to police. “The woman was held hostage, and was tortured physically and mentally.”


The Kathmandu District Court has already remanded the arrested to custody, allowing police to further investigate into the case.
