Majority of services of KMC to be provided from Kathmandu Plaza starting May 17

KATHMANDU May 17:  Preparations are being made to provide most services of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)  from Kathmandu Plaza starting May 17.

KATHMANDU May 17:  Preparations are being made to provide most services of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)  from Kathmandu Plaza starting May 17. 


As a part of the preparations, KMC has moved the Chief Administrative Officer's Office and Secretariat, Administration Department, Social Development Department, Health Department, Law and Human Rights Department, Disaster Management Department, Environment Management Department, Internal Audit Unit and Purchasing Unit to the plaza, according to the KMC's Assistant Spokesperson Deepak Adhikari.

Adhikari said that the International Relations Secretariat is ready to move to Kathmandu Plaza by May 17, the Department of Co-operatives by May 20, and the City Development Department by May 22.


It is expected that most of the Departments of KMC will start their services by mid-June as the central office of Muktinath Development Bank will move out by May 29. Along with the Bank, Raj Gharana restaurant and Nirmaya Dohori Sanjh restaurant are yet to be moved out of the plaza. 


Spokesperson Adhikari said that the rent dispute with the restaurant and Dohori Sanjh Trust has been sealed. 


According to him, the offices of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the KMC will be built through a contract. He said, “Other departments and offices are operating as they are now. The office of the mayor and deputy mayor will be made through a contract. So, it can only be moved after some time.”
