KMC leases Kathmandu Plaza, 10-year agreement reached with Nepal Trust

KATHMANDU, March 23:  Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has decided to lease Kathmandu Plaza.


KMC signed an agreement with Nepal Trust on Wednesday to rent the plaza. Basant Adhikari, the chief administrative officer of the metropolis and Bishnu Prasad Dhakal, joint secretary of Nepal Trust, signed the agreement in the presence of Sarjukumar Vaidya, executive secretary of Nepal Trust.

The KMC has entered into this agreement with Nepal Trust for 10 years. It is mentioned in the contract that after five years, the rent will be increased by 10 percent.


Kathmandu Plaza has 7 floors and is built on an area of 5 Ropanis 2 Paisa. There is parking space for 70 four-wheelers and 200 two-wheelers on the lowest floor of the building.


It has been said that Kathmandu Plaza will be used for office purposes by the KMC. The offices of the metropolitan departments, which are currently scattered in different places, will now be operated from Kathmandu Plaza.


With the agreement, the chief administrative officer of the metropolis said that the cooperative department, and the departments in the district coordination committee have been instructed to move to Kathmandu Plaza immediately. He said that the departments will be moved so that the services are not interrupted.
