Mahesh Basnet elected NYF chairman

LAHAN, Dec 30: Mahesh Basnet has been elected as Chairman of ruling CPN (Unified Marxist-Leninist)´s youth wing National Youth Federation (NYF).



Basnet, who received 699 votes, defeated his competitor Indra Lal Sapkota by 102 votes.



Basnet, who headed the Youth Force formed under the NYF earlier, is close to UML leader KP Sharma Oli.



Similarly, Dil Kumari Panta has been elected vice chair from women,



Hari Bahadur Rai from ethnic and Satya Narayan Yadav from Madhesi quota. Jhapat Rawal and Hira Bahadur KC have been elected for the post from ´other´ quotas.



Likewise, Niraj Acharya, who defeated Gyan Kumar Shrestha, has been elected general secretary. Surya Dhakal and Niru Pal have been elected secretary and treasurer respectively.
