He further warned that the people would take to the streets to oust him if he tries to play active part in the formation of the next government. [break]
Talking to media persons in Biratnagar, Mahato said, "If he is active, he will lose his presidential post but I don´t think he will jeopardize his position."
He also opined that the incumbent government cannot be changed through street protests and termed protests the opposition parties have announced to launch as irrelevant.
"In democracy, it’s not appropriate to topple government through street protests," he said, and added that the current government would stay on until consensus is forged.
"Lets strike a package deal and fix elections date, this government is not an obstacle," he said. "There is no need to go for any kind of protest," he added.
