UML candidate Mahato elected HoR member from Mahottari-1

MAHOTTARI, Nov 27: Laxmi Mahato of the CPN-UML has been elected as the member of the House of Representatives from Mahottari electoral constituency no 1. As per the vote counting results concluded this morning, Mahato defeated his closest competitor Giriraj Mani Pokharel of the CPN (Maoist Centre) by 1,031 votes. The Office of the Election Officer, Mahottari said Mahato secured 24,401 votes and Pokharel 23,370.

Meanwhile, Sharada Thapa of the CPN-UML has won the Province Assembly (PA) seat from Mahottari PA constituency -1 (1). She obtained 8,245 votes and her closest contender Pitambar Mahato of the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Nepal got 7,585, Election Officer Gunaraj Shrestha said.


With this, the results of vote counting under the election to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly in all the four electoral constituencies of Mahottari district have been announced. There are four HoR seats and eight PA seats in the district.
