JANAKPUR, Nov 2: Minister for Commerce and Supply and Chairman of Sadhbhawana Party Rajendra Mahato said the effects of "Maoist anti-Indian activities" have been seen in border areas.

Speaking at a press conference in Dhanusha district on Monday, he condemned the hurling of a shoe at Indian envoy Rakesh Sood by Maoist activists in Sankhuwasabha district. [break]

Due to Maoist activities, Indian security personnel have been pestering Nepali people on border areas, he said.

Replying to a query, he said the statement of Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal that called for a tripartite strategic alliance between Nepal, India and China is "controversial".

Accusing the UCPN (Maoist) of trying to work with the former king, he said the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML were also to blame for the present situation.
