KATHMANDU, Aug 1: The cabinet in Madhesh Province has been reshuffled for the sixth time after two ministers belonging to the Janamat Party led by Dr CK Raut resigned from the post on Monday. The Janamat party had one minister and one state minister in the cabinet of Madhesh province.

Chief Minister Saroj Yadav expanded the cabinet on Monday afternoon. The cabinet now has two ministers of state and 12 ministers.

Minister Basant Kushwaha and State Minister Sanjay Kumar Yadav of the Janamat Party had resigned as per the instruction of the party's top leadership. They did not hold any ministerial positions.

With the new reshuffle in the party, Mohammad Samim of Nepali Congress has been appointed as Minister for Home, Communications and Law.

Similarly, Dr Chandan Singh of Janamat Party has been appointed as Minister for Labor and Transport.

The newly-appointed ministers have already taken office. Province Chief Harishankar Mishra administered the oath of office and secrecy on Monday.

Chief Minister Yadav had earlier brought in Govind Neupane of the  CPN (Unified Socialist) as Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives.

The Madhesh government now has Krishna Yadav as the physical infrastructure development minister  and Birendra Singh as the health minister from the NC.

Saroj Kumar Yadav of Janata Samajbadi Party was appointed chief minister of Madhesh Province with the support of CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), Janamat Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nepal Sanghiya Samajbadi and independent lawmakers on January 11, 2023. But as the UML withdrew its support later, NC had extended its support to Chief Minister Yadav.
