“We have suspended our all protest programs. We will start collecting LPG cylinders from depots from Wednesday,” Gyaneshwore Aryal, president of Federation of LPG Dealers, told Republica.
Stating that LPG bottlers had reduced their commission rates, LPG dealers had started protest on Friday. To exert pressure on the bottlers, they had not collected LPG cylinders from depots. They had also padlocked Grihalaxmi Gas, Shakti Gas of Pokhara and Himal Gas of Kavre. [break]
Deepak Subedi, joint secretary of at MoCS, said LPG dealers agreed to suspend their protest programs after the government formed committee to address their demands.
Standardization of LPG dealers begin
The government has begun standardizing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dealers in an effort to regular transactions of the popular cooking fuewl.
As per the standard set by the government, LPG dealers will have to deal on only LPG and related accessories, sell LPG cylinders only after checking the weight, and install fire extinguishers at their outlets.
Meanwhile, Om Gas Industries has become the first LPG bottler to distribute standardization certificate to its dealer. Commerce secretary Janardan distributed certificates to 50 dealers amid a function held this week.
“Om Gas has become first to implement the government-set standard for LPG dealers. Other LPG bottlers will also have to standardize their dealers in a bid to make LPG distribution more secure and organized,” Nepal said.
Hari Pathak, proprietor of Om Gas, said his company initiated standardization of dealers to regulate LPG distribution keeping in view the security of consumers.
“We have created the base for supplying the cooking gas with secured way through the designated dealers,” Pathak added.
